3D Animation

The advent of computer aided design (CAD) programs has propelled many educational and commercial endeavors to the next level of study, production, and efficiency. Medical students, for example, can perform complex "virtual surgeries" with the use of such systems. In addition, flight simulators, which also use such programs, aid in the training of astronauts and pilots. The video game industry has grown enormously as games become increasingly realistic and interactive through 3-D imaging. In addition to these more advanced uses, the improvements in personal computers have allowed consumers to use powerful graphics tools once unavailable to them.

3D Movies - An Outlook

Non-Hollywood Titles

Besides mainstream 3D movies, several documentaries, independent movies, and concert coverage of musicians, such as the Jonas Brothers, are available in 3D for home viewing. You can watch theme parks, Alpine landscapes, Hawaiian volcanoes, zoo animals, and the Alaskan wilderness in their realistic 3D glory. Horror movies are an old 3D favorite - there is no experience comparable to being frightened by a 3D ghost or zombie in the quiet darkness of your home theater. For understandable reasons, adult titles featuring buxom women are also popular in the 3D format.

International Fare

Besides 3D fare from Hollywood and its lesser known independent counterparts, Japanese 3D titles are also popular. Anime movies such as Starchaser (1985) and Dead Heat (1987) top the list.

Home DVDs

Lesser known movies have been shot entirely in 3D, meant for release through home DVDs. Other movies have been converted to 3D using additional footage and some reengineering. Some of the better known 3D movies in this category include Power Rangers (2000) and The Hunchback of Notre Dame (original 1923, new version 2007). Parts of these movies are 3D, and the rest are 2D, for example, Barbie and the Magic of Pegasus (2005), Nightmare on Elm Street (1991), Journey to the Center of the Earth (2008), and Trinity and Beyond (1995). Old 3D movies in high definition include Dial M for Murder (1954), House of Wax (1953), and Jaws (1983).

3D Animation Software

Top 3D Animation Software:

MAYA: This is the software that actually uncrowned 3ds Max from the throne of being the best 3D software around. Ever since Maya was released, it was preferred over 3D by professionals around the world. Maya had an easy interface and had as many, if not more, features as compared to 3D Max 5. Maya can be used for linear as well as non-linear animation, character building and character animation.

One feature that it beat all its competitors with was the extensive shading and lighting effects and options. Graphics and animation professionals for various media like television and movies use Maya extensively. In 2003, it won an Academy Award for scientific and technical achievement.

3ds Max: One of the first massively used 3d animation software. Even today, it is used extensively for budget videogames, movies and television serials. 3Ds Max has, as of today, lost out to Maya as far as the most popular 3D animation software war is concerned. 3ds Max allows the user to form characters, animations and character animation. AutoDesk owns it. While Maya was head and shoulders about 3Ds Max when it was released (Maya was released during 3ds Max 5 version), 3ds Max did give it a good competition with the release of 3ds Max 6.

Poser: Poser is a strong contender in the 3D animation software market. While Maya and 3Ds Max do not necessarily concentrate on character rendering and animation, Poser can be compared with both the other two software in pure character rendering. Poser software is in its seventh version currently (Poser Version 7.0).

3-D Environments: 3-D Images

There are so many new and exciting computer/Internet-based technologies now available to be utilized that even the well-informed person of the cyber-age can be forgiven for not being familiar with all of them. The 3-D image creation tools on the Internet are one such example. Any site can be touched up to look considerably more modern, hip and sophisticated by inserting one of the variety of 3-D images which one can create with the new technology now accessible.

3d Background For Power point Presentations

Target Audience Are Important:

In any type of presentation it is very important to attract the audience in the first shot it self. As we all know, first impression is the best impression. If the audience are not interested in seeing and observing your presentation, no matter how good your presentation skills are and no matter how good your presentation material is, it is definitely not going to create the impact which you are looking for on your target audience.

3d Backgrounds:

In order to get that much needed first impression, one thing that can help you is the background, which you choose for your MS power point presentation. Template of the presentation can really attract the audience at your presentation. 3d backgrounds are really gaining popularity in the recent times even for the formal business presentations. These 3d backgrounds for MS power point presentations can make your over all presentation very attractive.

Which 3D Animation Software Should I Use?

Basic

At the bottom end of the market there are plenty of low cost, easy to use 3D programs. Because of the low cost and small market share, this is a volatile sector, with 3D applications popping into and out of the market quite rapidly. Some of these applications last a little longer than normal, while others vanish without a trace, so don't be surprised if any mentioned here are no longer available by the time you read this! Whatever the name, they all tend to follow the same basic path-making 3D as easy as possible, but without the power and finesse of the more expensive packages.

How is it Different From 2D Animation?

For 2D animation, everything happens on a 2 dimensional platform. Pictures are flat, without depth and offer only one perspective. Objects and characters are usually drawn without the subtle soft shadows we see in real life and colours have few varying shades. In 3D animation, everything happens on a 3 dimensional platform. Pictures have depth and offer multiple perspectives just like in real life and have soft subtle shadows casted on the objects and characters within.

Tips on Purchasing a 3D Workstation

Questions to Consider:
What are the specifications of the computer that you're currently working with and what would you like to gain from your new computer? What is your budget for your new computer? Would you be rendering large complex scenes? Would you be rendering animations or still images or both? etc..

Random Access Memory:
The two main things that you will need to look out for when purchasing a computer with rendering in mind are RAM (Random Access Memory) and processing power.

The Processor:
The processor is in my opinion THE single most important component when considering putting a computer together. The more cores the better and the faster the clock speed the better.

Heatsinks:
The heatsink is the big metal thing that sits over the top of the processor that cools it buy drawing heat out of it through conduction. The fans in the case then blow cool air over and through the heatsink to cool it down.

Going 3D to Experience Virtual Reality to Your advantage

The biggest advantage of this Architectural Visualization is that in addition to providing a virtual model of a building or landscape, the technology can be further used to get 3D Walk throughs wherein one can design the entire interiors of a place observing even the smallest details like floor designing, color, background and obtain the exteriors view as well. In other words, it takes you into the world of visual reality and offers the delightful chance to feel the place as it is, just sitting before your computer and walking through the lanes of future home, to say for example.

Considering Dual Monitors for Your Architectural Visualisation Workstation?

Are Two Monitors Better than One?

Visualization studios constantly strive for better accuracy and efficiency in their working pipeline and there are countless ways that this can be achieved but one of the quickest and easiest methods to begin the long journey towards visualization perfection is increasing screen real estate.

What are the Practical Applications?
The practical applications of using two monitors are endless. Having the ability to work with various applications at any one given moment has enormous implications for the productivity of any visualizer.

Are Dual Monitors the Only Way of Increasing Screen Real Estate?
There are other methods of increasing screen real estate that will compliment the use of multiple monitors to further increase your efficiency. Software toolbar customization enables the user to access the tools that they most often use but in most cases also reduces view port screen real estate.

Communities

There are a multitude of websites designed to help educate and support 3D graphic artists. Some are managed by software developers and content providers, but there are standalone sites as well. These communities allow for members to seek advice, post tutorials, provide product reviews or post examples of their own work.

Computer animation

Computer animation (or CGI animation) is the art of creating moving images with the use of computers. It is a subfield of computer graphics and animation. Increasingly it is created by means of 3D computer graphics, though 2D computer graphics are still widely used for stylistic, low bandwidth, and faster real-time rendering needs. Sometimes the target of the animation is the computer itself, but sometimes the target is another medium, such as film. It is also referred to as CGI (computer-generated imagery or computer-generated imaging), especially when used in films.

On the comments of which machine, people should note that the PC they get frm a regular consumer store won't last long. 3D rendering consumes 100% of available CPU power, which is much more than what the average PC is made for. A good workstation has extra n the CPU and case fans, and I don't mean the stock ones. I normally install over clocking fans but keep the CPU running at its normal clock speed.
