Most Expensive Beer in the World
Vielle Bon Secours : It claims to be the world's most expensive beer with a price tag of £500 (equivalent to around $1,000) per bottle or about £39 (equivalent to around $78) per pint.
Carlsberg Vintage No.1 : Tagged at $395 a bottle, Carlsberg's Vintage no.1 is one of the costliest beer ever, brewed by the Carlsberg Group in the year 2008. The interesting thing to note here is that only 600 bottles of this beer has been made and one bottle holds four-fifths of a pint.
Samuel Adams Utopias : This beer flows from the largest American owned brewery and is among the most expensive brands of beer. It also holds a Guinness World record for being the strongest beer with an ABV (Alcohol By Volume) of 27%.
Tutankhamun Ale : This limited beer is named after the famous King Tut, as the recipe of this extraordinary beer was discovered in Queen Nefertiti’s Temple of the Sun in Egypt which housed a brewery, build by King Akenhaten (husband of the Queen and probable father of King Tut). The rare ingredients add to the richness and definitely the expense of this brand. Sold at $52 per bottle, Tutankhamun Ale is worth a shot.

Best selling beers around the world
United States Many people think that America’s best selling beer is Budweiser, but it actually gets worse. Since 2001 the best selling beer in the USA has been Bud Light with an almost 16% share of the total market though it’s only sold internationally.
Canada Their best selling brand is Labatt Blue. It’s definitely at least half a step above most of the popular American beers. Coors Light has made its way up to number two, and Molson Canadian checks in third.
Brazil With almost a third of the total market, the local brand Skol dominates, with Brahma getting about 20%, followed by Antarctica with about 14%. All of them are owned by InBev which is the largest brewing company in the world.
Mexico Corona is the best selling beer in Mexico, one of the top selling imported beers in the United States and also one of the best selling beers in the world, available in over 150 countries.
Germany Krombacher taking the crown as the single top brand, followed by Bitburger, Warsteiner, and Becks, which is by far the most exported German beer.
Netherlands continues to be dominated by the giant Heineken brewery. There is no doubt that Heineken Pilsner takes the first place. Its nearest competitor is Amstel bought by Heineken in 1968. Grolsch, which is known for its stay-attached bottle cap, is a distant third.
United Kingdom The bestselling brand is Carling, which used to be called Carling Black Label, and isn’t well known in most of the world.
Ireland Guinness stout beer dominates the market in Ireland. Domestic sales have been dropping a bit though they still account for nearly half of the total in the country..
Belgium Belgium is home of the giant InBev brewery company, and traditional lagers are still most popular. Stella Artois is by far the largest selling Belgian beer around the world, but it only holds an 8% share in the country, crushed by Jupiler, which gets around 40% of the market.
Japan is really in love with the beer. While sake owns about 8% of the country’s alcohol market, beer takes down almost 60%, with four huge companies dominating the scene. Asahi Super Dry appears to be on top, closely followed by Kirin, Sopporo, and Suntory.
China those who can afford beer reach for a Tsingtao, the only Chinese beer with an aggressive export campaign, so it’s the world’s favorite Chinese beer as well. Zhujiang and Ynjing are ranked number two and three.

In my house beer always tops the list. And in fact tea would never be on my list at all. In fact, I keep most of my beer, and several brands and varieties, in a refrigerator downstairs in the basement. I have a dry-erase board magnetically attached to the door which reads, "When inventorying beer, always remember the GOLDEN RULE: We are ALWAYS (underlined three times) running out of beer. Put it on the shopping list!!!"
You mentioned some rather interesting ones here. I had to choose "other" in the poll because my absolute favorite is Samuel Adams. Particularly Samuel Adams Summer Ale. 2nd to that would be a beer out of St. Louis, Schlafly. For an everyday regular run-of-the-mill drinking beer, Red Dog is fine. PBR. Miller Lite. Hamms. I'm not real picky about those regular types.
Fun and interesting read...but as I write this it's 9:38 in the morning, and way too early to have my mouth watering for a beer. :)
I should only point out that the only true last American large brewer is The Boston Beer Company who makes Samuel Adams, of course. Anheuser-Bush is owned by a company in Belgium. Miller was bought years ago by SAB, which is a South-African company, and recently merged SAB Miller with Molson Coors in Canada.
Sam Adams Utopias is no longer the highest ABV. There are beers from Brew Dog that are upwards of 55% ABV.
nice hub but i don't think that heineken should be on the list.
I live near Three Floyds so I have been lucky enough to try many of their beers and I have to say most are very good. The Darklord is interesting and it scares most people I tried to share it with. I had to pick other on your poll because it's too hard to decide. I had the Smoked Porter from the Alaskan brewing company and it was great but they don't sell it east of the Rockies. It might be my favorite beer. Sierra Nevada, Rouge, and Sam Adams along with Three Floyds are all my favorites. Springboard has a point that the largest true American brewer is the Boston Brewing Company which is sad because according to their commericial they have less then 1% of the market. At this moment I am actually drinking a Dogfish Head Indian Brown Ale...I'm hoppy!
I like the breadth of this hub - lots of interesting lists and facts (though a little heavy on mentions of Bud, Coors, Corona, etc, but hey, that's me). The brewery Avery from Colorado has a beer called Maharashi that is the best American IPA I've tasted, but my favorite beer of all time has to be Trappist Rochefort 10... Favorite British I guess would be Taylors Landlord.
So where is PBR on the list?
