Are electric cars expensive ?

Yes but mostly because it's a fairly new and small-scale technology. Things become cheap when you make a lot of them because then you can buy the raw materials in bulk and set up assembly lines, etc. When you're making a small number of a product, you can't buy as large quantities of the raw materials, so they cost more, so they end product costs more.

how long does it to recharge electric vehicles

This completely depends upon the specifications of the Battery used in the electric car and the charger rating. It generally takes around 8-12 Hrs for a complete charging cycle.

Is it hard to travel long distance with electric cars?

The majority of battery powered cars that are available today have a range of between 40 miles (65km) and 100 miles (160km), which is far more than most people travel on a regular basis:

  • According to the UK Department for Transport, that the average car journey is 6½ miles (10½km) with 93% of all journeys being less than 25 miles (40km).
  • According to the US Department of Transportation, an average American driver travels 29 miles (46½km) per day by car, with an average single journey of around 12 miles (19km).
  • Many people never travel more than 50 miles (80km) from their homes and many more will only travel further than 50 miles a few times each year.

Are electric vehicles slow

A very basic gas-powered car can easily take you up to 100 mph. An exotic, expensive thrill machine like the Bugatti Veyron can get you to more than 200 mph. In between, you have all manner of options, from drag-racer-type American cars that go fast in a straight line to “driver’s” machines like Porsches and BMWs.

Electric cars will mirror this, but with one very important distinction: They will almost all have surprising acceleration. This is due to a peculiarity of electric motors, which deliver maximum torque at 1 RPM. Gas-powered cars build up their torque over the RPM curve, which just means that acceleration can seem more gradual. Whereas even a mass-market E.V. feels, to a certain extent, like a race car.

Will Electric Vehicles Really Reduce Pollution?

An electric vehicle that is charged with energy from a clean source, like hydroelectric power, will produce very little pollution, while one charged with energy from an unclean source, like coal or oil, may produce more pollution than an internal combustion engine vehicle.
